Some time ago Jacko mentioned in a comment about his project to build an arcade video cabinet. He did a great job and it still graces his games room with the pool table. I got wildly inspired and then at some early stage of the work then got distracted by something else. However, getting into the garden, building the chook house and seeing all the bits of my own arcade cabinet leaning in the corner in the shed, has once again inspired me to finish it off. But I'll leave that until I have finished the chook house. I did however, dig out the mock ups for the artwork for my cabinet. Its all taken from some comic art called 'Love and Rockets'. Enjoy (or mock as you see fit)
Here are the side panels

The control panel

The marquee (thats the bit at the top of the front with a light behind it

The coin door (thats the bit in front at the bottom (where you'd put your money in if you hadn't built it in your shed)

I really love the side panel art works. Only time will tell if I ever get around to doing all this of course, but it's an amusing thought that keeps me entertained when I think about it. Besides the important thing is getting the chook house finished...Jacko is very keen on seeing the chooks in January...

I love the artwork. I had all kinds of art planned for my arcade machine, but ended up painting it black until I got around to either paying a painter or sending of to the US to get some self adhesive vinyl printed. I had a lot of other plans too that never came through. I was going to make a couple of alternate controller consoles so that I could have joysticks on one and spinner/trackball on the other, but never got around to it.
And yes, I am looking forward to seeing chickens.

One more thing, you havent yet got plans for the bezel. Most important part. Get an image printed on clear perspex so that when the machine is on, the light behind the perspex glows. (But you probably already know what a bezel is).

Here is one for you poetry boy:
"Not the sun nor the summer alone, but every hour and season yields its tribute of delight, for every hour and change corresponds to and authorizes a different state of mind, from breathless noon to grimmest midnight."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson, from his book Nature
I have a lot of Ralph's quotes in my collection (currently at 69K words)
"Sunshine cannot bleach the snow, Nor time unmake what poets know" - Ralph Waldo Emerson
and one for the homework:
"The reward of a thing well done is to have done it" - Ralph Waldo Emerson
I won't subject you to my poetry file just yet :P
Ignore my comments about a bezel (whatever that is). I think all this codeine is going to my head. I meant the marquee, which I now notice that you already had included.
What is with all your mates knowing poetry? The only poetry I know is generally about "beans the musical fruit" or "beans good for the heart".
